Random Student Name Picker for Classroom

Give every student an equal chance to participate. Uses cryptographic randomness for truly unbiased, fair selection.

Why Use a Random Name Picker in Your Classroom?

When only volunteers raise their hands, a few outgoing students dominate participation while quieter students fade into the background. A random name picker levels the playing field — every student knows they might be called on, which keeps the whole class engaged. Many teachers report significantly improved participation rates after introducing random selection tools in their classrooms.

How Teachers Use This Tool

• Calling on students: Pick who answers the next question to keep everyone alert • Forming groups: Draw names in sequence to create random, fair groups • Setting order: Determine presentation order, cleanup duty, or line-up order fairly • Rewards: Select students for participation rewards or bonus opportunities

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the selection truly random?

Yes, we use crypto.getRandomValues — a cryptographic random function. It's far more uniform than standard Math.random() and cannot be predicted or manipulated.

Can the same student be picked twice?

Not if 'Exclude drawn' is enabled. Already-picked students are automatically removed from the pool until everyone has been selected once.

Can I save my class list?

Yes, on the main page your student list is automatically saved to your browser. When you return on the same device, your list will still be there.
